    	    	Вступление

"Adieu, Adieu" (Trad./Arr. Thompson)
As recorded by RT circa 2006.

A traditional English song, AKA "The Flash Lad".
Seems to date from mid 1700s; the "Lord Fielding's gang"
in some variants refers to the early London police
force organized by Henry Fielding of "Tom Jones" fame.

[intro]

[verse]
         D
Adieu, adieu, hard was my fate,
D G D A
I was brought up in a tender state.
 D D/F# G D/F# A
Bad company did me entice,
       D D/F# Bm Em A
and I left off work and took bad advice.

[chorus]

D D/F# G D/F# A
Which makes me now to lament and say,
D Bm G A
pity the fate of young felons all,
D G A D
well-a-day, well-a-day.

[verse]
               D
I robbed Lord Goldwyn, I do declare,
D G D A
and Lady Masefield in Grosvenor Square,
    D D/F# G D A
I shut my shutters and bid them goodnight,
 D D/F# Bm Em A
then went home to my heart's delight.

[chorus]

D D/F# G D/F# A
Which makes me now to lament and say,
D Bm G A
pity the fate of young felons all,
D G A D
well-a-day, well-a-day.

[verse]

   D
Before Judge Aldred I was took,
 D G D A
before Judge Aldred I was tried.
D D/F# G D/F# A
My Lady Kemp says "this will not do,
D D/F# Bm Em A
my iron chest you have broken through".

[chorus]

D D/F# G D/F# A
Which makes me now to lament and say,
D Bm G A
pity the fate of young felons all,
D G A D
well-a-day, well-a-day.

[verse]

    D
And when I'm dead and gone to my grave,
D D/F# G D A
no costly tombstone will I crave.
     D G D A
Six bonny lasses to carry my pall,
D D/F# Bm Em A
give them broadswords, caps and ribbons all.

[chorus]

D D/F# G D/F# A
Which makes me now to lament and say,
D Bm G A
pity the fate of young felons all,
    D G A D D5
Oh, well-a-day, well-a-day.
